Our Trip to NYC!!!

We had so much fun in New York City!! Donna, Rebecca, Apryl, Joy, and I had tons of fun and saw so many things in a really short time, and it was a blast. So here's a quick recap of what we saw while we were there...

Day 1 - We checked into the hotel and headed out to check out the Greenwich Village area...we saw Washington Square, the cute boutiques, the Greenwich neighborhoods, found a Magnolia Bakery (Rebecca had specifically requested that we go to Magnolia Bakery and we happened to run across one), shopped a little, and headed back to get changed for dinner. We walked over to a great little Greek restaurant (Periyali) and it was fantastic and so much fun to try some new dishes. Afterwards, we headed to the Empire State Building where we hung out for awhile and just enjoyed the wonderful views of NYC at night. Then we were completely worn out and headed back to rest up for day 2.

Day 2 - Got dressed in our best (from Fringe) and headed a couple of blocks over the Chelsea Studios where the Martha Stewart show is filmed. We saw some great clothes (current and vintage)...brands like Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, etc. Lots of fantastic handbags being carried!!. We enjoyed seeing out a live show like that is run from start to finish - it was very interesting. From there we had some time to go change into something more comfortable for shopping, so we quickly changed and headed to the Upper East Side to grab some lunch. We had a great lunch at Eli Zabar's EAT on Madison Avenue and had an hour or so to waste, so we wandered around Central Park. The weather was wonderful for the entire trip so we enjoyed seeing the sights of Central Park. Our consignment shop tour began at 3pm, and out guide, Lou, was great. She showed us some out of this world consignment stores (we're talking full of Prada, D&G, Gucci, Louie Vuitton, Diane Von Furstenburg, Tory Burch, Kate Spade, and any other designer brands you can even think of). This was probably my favorite part of the trip (other than just hanging out with the girls) - the stuff in these stores was amazing to say the least. I made just a few purchases myself (and am wearing one of those today). So the tour was too short, but we had reservations at Carmine's on Broadway so we had to make it to our dinner, so we had to catch and taxi and run. Carmine's was a family style Italian restaurants and lots of fun (would highly recommend for a group) - way too much good food!! Our next stop was Times Square that evening. We really enjoyed just hanging out at the TKTS arena and people watching. We were also able to walk over to Rockerfeller Center, so we wanted to at least look, so we checked that out too (we saw lots and lots of things in our short trip). Then back to the hotel via subway to rest up for day 3.
Day 3 - this was out day to see whatever we wanted to and go wherever we wanted. Out flight wasn't until 5:40, so we had all day. So here's what we checked out...Chinatown, Little Italy (Little Italy was having a festival of some sort, so it was decorated very festively), Nolita, Noho, and Soho. Soho is the place to go for high end shopping! We enjoyed just checking out these stores (window shopping mainly) - PRADA, Kate Spade, Gucci, and on and on and on. I did run across a little known store based in Barcelona. I spoke to one of the people working there and she told me about the store and that currently, they are only in New York and Miami in the states. If you like something different, check it out... www.desigual.com. I made a couple of purchases here.
Well, that about covers it...lots of things to see and a short time to do it, but we did! We navigated the subway system with some ease (most of the time), looked at lots of fun stores, shopped a little, and had fun, fun, fun! Thanks for coming...Donna, Rebecca, Joy, and Apryl!!!
